For those of you who have only heard of "feeding raw", but never actually tried it, here is some basic information.
• WHAT IS RAW? A raw pet food diet is just what it sounds like, and that is real, minimally processed, uncooked food that consists of raw meat, bones, organ meat.
• WHY FEED RAW? Many people like feeding their pets raw dog food because it doesn’t have preservatives or processed ingredients, and it also allows you to know exactly what is in your dog’s diet.
• HOW MUCH TO FEED? It is recommended to give adult dogs about 2-3% of their weight in raw food, and puppies about 5-10% of their weight in raw food. As an example, if your dog weighs 50lbs, you should aim to give your dog about 1-1.5 pounds of dog food in a day.
Raw Feeding is an entire topic on its own (some might even call it a “movement"), and it’s highly recommended to do your research before emBARKing on the journey. You will discover that there are lot of opinions on this topic, and support for raw feeding ranges from those who are die-hard raw food enthusiasts to those who enjoy feeding raw food supplementally to those who are adamantly opposed to it (most notably, 95% of veterinarians).
